The Friday Mix – McKonkey Movie, Storm Chasers, North Shore Surfing & MX Pinup

It’s time for your Friday Action Sports pickup with the Friday Mix. First up this week we take a look at a trailer for a new Red Bull movie, Mckonkey. “McConkey,” a feature-length documentary to be released in 2013. It is a heartfelt examination of the legacy one athlete left to the progression of his sports, and the path he paved to conquer his dreams. He was pretty mad!

Next we head off to Ireland and the Red Bull Storm Chasers, where ten of the best Windsurfers battle both the elements and themselves to make it to the next Storm and venue. Sailors from eight countries completed a demanding competition in Kerry, during the first mission of the Red Bull Storm Chase – the most-challenging windsurfing contest of all time.

What happened to Timmy Reyes you may have wondered? Well, he still surfs and spends his time travelling for O”Neill finding perfect waves and getting the shots. Join him over his last mission to firing North Shore in Hawaii.

We finish off with one for the boys. What is not love about MX bikes and girls…

The Friday Mix – Surf with John John, DC Skate, Red Bull Air King and Alana Blanchard…

I have had loads of requests to bring back the Friday Mix. A post with 3-4 great videos from the web covering all bases on Captain Kai’s World. So here it is…

We start with John Joh Florence and his latest mental surf short online, Free to Roam. Following this is the DC Skate Team’s trip to New Zealand and Australia with the likes of Chris Cole, Nyjah Huston, Wes Kremer, Mikey Taylor, Mike Mo Capaldi and Evan Smith. After that you are off to Vienna and the Red Bull Air King event with some mental Freeride Mountain Bike. We finish with the latest webisode from our favorite ladies surfer, Alana Blanchard, living life on the North Shore. Enjoy!

Alana Blanchard Training and then Surfing with Kelly SLater

Everyone’s favorite Pro Surfer and Bikini Ambassador is back. This time round she is training on the North Shore with Kahea Hart, Alana and Leila Hurst head to Haleiwa Beach Park to surf the world-class wave near the entrance to Haleiwa harbor. Alana encounters a crowded line-up at Haleiwa full of top pro male surfers and 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater, who inspires her to take her surfing to the next level. I am sure she inspires Kelly to!

Rip Curl Pro Bells 2013 Preview

52 Years of iconic contest surfing starts up again tomorrow with the start of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach. Stop 2 of the World Tour gets underway in small conditions with the forecasters calling epic conditions for the Easter Weekend, just in time for droves of fans to line the point at Bells.

That man Kelly Slater is in the number 1 slot once again, with Joel Parkinson breathing down his neck. Mick Fanning as defending champion will also be a major threat and after watching his turns at Snapper, you best believe that if Bells is big, Jordy Smith will be taking names! Dust Payne has just come off a win at Margaret River and that confidence may well see his best result on tour happening at Bells. Julian Wilson was also in that final and will be feeling good. Dark horses in my opinion will be Kohole Andino and Philipe Toledo.

Anything can happen at Bells though, so look forward to an exiting event!
