What better way to start 2019 than with the latest dirt fest with Axell Hodges. Slay Hodges and friends head to Ocotillo Wells during a brutal winter storm and tear it up on their desert toys – aka DESERTED.
Monster Energy take Axell and his team of nutters deep into the dirt, where he charges as per usual.
Massive Jumps
In a place where most are sticking to the small jumps, Axell goes large. One particular jump is over 90ft and he manages to smash both his rims. Twitch cant believe this as he broke his leg at Ocotillo the last time he rode there. Axell just laughs it off. There are also a couple of great whips by the king of the move.
Enjoy the video!
Monster Energy always bring the MX heat, so here is your first video of 2019, Deserted with Axell Hodges. I hope you enjoy it!

We couldn’t have asked for a better season opener of the 2016 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National MX Championship in Port Elizabeth. Both fans and competitors expected round one to be interesting but what they got was better then they ever could have anticipated. Not only was the competition in the premier MX1 and MX2 classes on another level, but every single other class offered incredible racing.
Round 2 now heads to the ever popular Zone 7 in Cape Town on 2 April. The competitors enjoy the Zone 7 track and it’s a great venue that always draws large crowds. In the premier MX1 and MX2 classes, it is anyone’s win. The level of talent is so high that there are so many favourites that could easily take the win. It is going to be intense racing at every stop this year. The first round also attracted riders from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland and we hope to see them all again in Cape Town.
The Championship is sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa (MSA) and brought to you by Motocross South Africa (MX SA) in conjunction with Monster Energy, TRP Distributors, Thor, Bridgestone, FMF, Gaerne, Motul, DC Shoes, Bell Helmets, Rockwell Watches, Racestar Graffix, Pac-Rite, 100%, Fly Racing, Winstel, MMT and Progression. Official vehicle partner is Ford Performance.
Racing will kick off at around 10am. There is catering on site and this is guaranteed to be a great day out for the whole family. Entrance is R50 per adult and free for kids of 12 years and younger.
Zone 7: Van Schoorsdrift Road, Cape Town, Western Cape.
The X Games Real Series grows every year. What started with skating and snowboarding now includes Moto FMX for the first time. 5 Moto riders were given the opportunity to make a freeride video, the public vote and a winner is chosen for X Games Gold. Below are all 5 entries. Drake and Wes both missed the memo in my book, with a motorbike advert and a trailer submitted, while Mike Mason’s is simply average. Twitch did what he does best, but unfortunately I have been watching Crusty Demons videos for years so it did not blow me away. In my opinion, with some humour, sick variety of riding, big freeride hits and beautiful camera work and editing, my vote went to Ronnie Renner (In Picture).
You can vote too, just watch the videos below and then head on over to the X Games Real Moto Page – HERE
We used to have this event in South Africa and it was pretty dam cool. So stoked a South African took the win in the US version recently. Dylan Lightfoot made the semi finals at the Vans US Open and then took it a little further with his team mate, Fmx wildman, Bilko, to take the win at SurferCross.
Every year some of the best motocross and surf athletes gather together for Surfercross. This year marked the 15th consecutive year for Surfercross, with a heavy combination of Pro and Industry riders alike. In the pro class, each pro surfer was randomly paired with a pro mx rider, while the industry class was a random mix of desk jockeys. We took over the MX track at Milestone the first day, then hit the surf at Trail 6 in San Clemente the following day. Surfercross is just about the perfect amount of dirt and surf. This event brings together some of the most talented athletes across two industries, into one very unique contest.

It’s time for your Friday Action Sports pickup with the Friday Mix. First up this week we take a look at a trailer for a new Red Bull movie, Mckonkey. “McConkey,” a feature-length documentary to be released in 2013. It is a heartfelt examination of the legacy one athlete left to the progression of his sports, and the path he paved to conquer his dreams. He was pretty mad!
Next we head off to Ireland and the Red Bull Storm Chasers, where ten of the best Windsurfers battle both the elements and themselves to make it to the next Storm and venue.
