Cape Bodyboarders going buck Wild

Cape Town has always had a solid bodyboard crew, who just love to charge big, heaving pits. One of the guys documenting, charging and pushing the crew is, Simon Heale. Over the last few months he has put together a good segment of action from around the land, with some of the Cape’s best talent charging. Check out the video…

Then we have one of my guys from Llandudno, Jaco Loubser. He has always charged, but felt trapped in his corporate existence, so he he packed up and hit the road to Indonesia and the Philippines, went a little feral, scored insane waves and somehow managed to document it all. Check his video…

Now go out there and charge!

Urban Snowmobiling in Saint Paul | Levi LaVallee

Levi LaVallee is the poster child for dynamite comes in small packages. I met him back at X Games in LA a few years ago and the guy is short, full of life and loves a good party. On top of all that he rides a snowmobile like a man possessed! Check out his latest web video where he cruises the streets of his home town, its pretty dam ridiculous.

Some people see the world as a playground, where anything and everything can and will be a shreddable obstacle. As a kid growing up in Minnesota, Levi LaVallee looked at his state’s capital Saint Paul like a ripe fruit, begging to be plucked…and ripped to shreds on his snowmobile. A land of opportunity that only he could see, it was his mission to take that city over on his trusty sled. Now, he’s done it.

Who needs Snow… certainly not Candide Thovex

When one of the world’s elite free skiers joins forces with one of the world’s top all wheel drive vehicles, you can imagine they will come up with an incredible way to celebrate the partnership. In this case they simply sent Candide Thovex down an alpine mountain side on his skis… but without the snow. Pretty incredible video, well worth a watch.

Snowboard insanity

The insanity levels continue this season in snowboarding with Max Parrot landing the world’s first Switch Quadruple Underflip 1620.

Snowboarding is now moving into the realm of what was thought impossible just a few years ago with the top riders landing tricks that were thought the realm of video game fantasy recently.

The scary thing is that the boundaries seem to be getting pushed harder and faster than ever as more tricks are landed. Where to next…

Monster Energy teamed up with Whistler Blackcomb to build the proper feature for Max to assist in the progression of snowboarding.

“It was a dream for me when I first started competing internationally, to push the boundaries of snowboarding.

I have been visualising this trick for a few months and when the opportunity presented itself this season thanks to Monster Energy & Whistler Blackcomb, I felt it was the right time”

How did he make it – Benny Richardson at Shipstern Bluff

I have watched this over and over and cannot fathom how he made this wave! Absolutely incredible.

Benny Richardson (Clifton Beach, Tasmania) retains his composure through a madly distorting slab of a barrel and escapes the maelstrom at Shipstern Bluff, Tasmania, Australia on April 4, 2014. Video by Tim Bonython from the Australian Surf Film Festival. An entry in the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards. X Games Day 1 – Snowboard Halfpipe Insanity

Ok so the first day of X Games Aspen is behind us and what a day it was. There was snowmobile action, Ski Slopestyle, Ski Halfpipe and probably the most anticipated event of the year, the men’s Snowboard Pipe. All eyes were on the return of the flying tomato, Shaun White, but it was the youngsters who held him back and he finished in 3rd. Taka Hiraoka from japan busted some solid tricks with incredible elevation to secure silver. Repeating his victory from last year, it was Danny Davis winning the Gold. I loved Danny’s run, great mix of old and new and especially the monster McTwist to start.

Totally Insane Precision Wingsuit Flying

Its pretty incredible how far these guys have pushed this sport in such a short time. With the highest mortality rate in any sport, the risks are real though! Watch and fear for their lives, because this Wingsuit flying is insane.
This flight features Vincent Descols, aka, Le Blond, as he soars over the Le Catogne, a mountain with an amazing line in the Mont Blanc massif. This is an unbelievable flight in an unbelievable area. Watch in awe…

Upsets, Tears and Goofy Footed Domination at the Jbay Pro Day 3

Just look at the bemused smile on CJ Hobgood’s face after knocking out the favorite, Jordy Smith. CJ must have been wondering how he did it, but I can tell you how, he stuck to the gameplan. Jordy wanted to impress his home crowd so much he tried too hard and ultimately it hurt him. Going for the massive layback snap and going down, all he had to do was 3 more average turns and he would have got the middling 6 points he was after. The crowd sighed in disbelief and CJ was left smiling on the beach wondering how he pulled off such an incredible win against the odds.

Another Goofy who put it to the odds was in form surfer, Matt Wilko, not only beating Kelly Slater in their Round 3 match up, but putting the King in combo land. I don’t think many people called that one. Josh Kerr, Taj Burrows, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson stuck to the Jbay script and dominated their encounters. One more upset was on the cards though, as Alejo Muniz took out World Number 2, Michel Bourez.

There was great surfing and we are now ready for Round 5 and the final day of surfing. Hopefully the swell forecasted for the weekend arrives.
