It has been a while since we saw wakeskate footage at home with Matti Buys. What with his travels around the world, competing in the USA and a busy schedule. So stoked to see some footage from home in a great edit, with some great local music!
The 2016 Night Harvest went mental! The huge crowd were entertained by some of SA’s and the planet’s best riders and the level was through the roof. Watch the video and be sad if you were not there for the live experience.
We used to have this event in South Africa and it was pretty dam cool. So stoked a South African took the win in the US version recently. Dylan Lightfoot made the semi finals at the Vans US Open and then took it a little further with his team mate, Fmx wildman, Bilko, to take the win at SurferCross.
Every year some of the best motocross and surf athletes gather together for Surfercross. This year marked the 15th consecutive year for Surfercross, with a heavy combination of Pro and Industry riders alike. In the pro class, each pro surfer was randomly paired with a pro mx rider, while the industry class was a random mix of desk jockeys. We took over the MX track at Milestone the first day, then hit the surf at Trail 6 in San Clemente the following day. Surfercross is just about the perfect amount of dirt and surf. This event brings together some of the most talented athletes across two industries, into one very unique contest.
While not the biggest name in the wake game, Rusty Malinoski has always been one of my favorites to watch ride. Big lines, style and huge strength (Just check the handle passes.)
Rusty Malinoski has always had a different approach to the sport of Wakeboarding than most others. Rusty’s hard core work ethic, confidence and competitive approach has taken him onto winning many National and World championships throughout his career. Growing older now, Rusty still has that competitive drive and desire to want to win at any level and all the time. Rusty hasn’t let off the gas yet. He feels he still has more to share with the sport and his competitors.
Ok, so the video is actually an Ian Walsh project, but to be fair, Grant Twig Baker and Frank Solomon, the South African chargers, are rather prominent. The video was shot by surf cinematographer, star, Taylor Steele, and funded by Hullet Packard, hence the Hollywood feel. The boys charge some rather perfect looking, but extremely heavy waves up the West Coast.
I got to go down to the MX Nationals in Cape Town was pleasantly surprised to find a really solid crew racing at a well organised event. MX in SA has been languishing somewhat the last few years, but with this new series it seems things are back on the up. The most recent stop was Round 3 at teza, in Richards Bay. The track, built on a guy’s private farm for his son, is almost on the US scale, with massive jumps and a great mix of sand and dirt. The racing looked tight and fast, much like the promo girls! Check out the video and get down to a stop near you to see some proper , filthy MX…
Stunning, Perfection, Breathtaking – just a few words that describe this 3 minute surfing clip that shows Ian Walsh catching huge waves and making it look effortless. All shot on super slow motion allowing you to truly appreciate the elements involved i surfing these waves.
Been a while since I posted gorgeous gals in bikinis and swimwear, so perfect timing by Fox Girls to launch their 2014 collection video in the Nevada desert.
Introducing our 2014 Swim Collection, Lust for Dust. After this video you’ll be lusting after Fox Swim in punchy neons & moto inspired prints.
There has been a flurry of activity online this week with a couple of surfing edits dropping from some of South Africa’s top surfers. What better way to remind yourself how good the waves are at home and what quality surfers we have here, than by watching these videos with Josh Redman, Dylan Lightfoot, Slade Prestwhich, Shane Sykes, Dan Redman, Brandon Jackson and Ricky Basnett. Well done to the guys behind the cameras too, we need more footage infiltrating the world wide web.
