2015 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Preview

We always get excited about Bells. The iconic event seems to deliver those magic moments that create legends and start World Title campaigns. The bad news is, the forecast this year is looking pretty dismal. You can almost guarantee that Day 1 will be surfed and then the long wait will begin. In fact we may see alternate venues come into play and that may well change up how your Fantasy Pick go. One pick I have for sure, Jordy Smith. He was looking in great form at Snapper till he got skunked by waves and if you remember back to small Bells last year he was killing it, till the robbery against Julian Wilson. Check the video below and relive the horror of Jordy not getting the score. I am pretty sure this footage still haunts Richie Porter late at night… (Jordy has the package, we know about the turns, but don’t forget the air game, as seen above.)

Filipe Toledo was in sublime form at Snapper and you can bet with a small wave forecast for Bells he will be deadly. Mick Fanning is another guy worth watching. Wildcard, MAson Ho, is one hell of a surfer and could just surprise some of the big seeds. Ok, thats me preview, now you go select your own team.

Timmy Reyes wins the Mr Price Pro 2014

The man stayed cool and calm, with a big grin on his face the whole week! He surfed with style and power and never lost his head. Staying with the local crew in Ballito, Tim Reyes had the crowd support on the final day and it helped him win the event. Matt Wilko will be feeling like he let it slip from his grasp. He was electric through Friday and most of the final day, but just could not find a 2nd wave, after getting a 9.2.

The event produced incredible surfing and one just needs to watch the highlights videos from all the days to realise that the level of surfing on the Qualifying circuit has exploded. We now move on to the Jbay Open and I cannot wait to get there.

PRIZE WINNER WITH HURRICANE SURF
Congratulations to Martin Hartslief from PE, who was the first person to put Timmy Reyes as their favorite for the win. He wins R3000 surf accessories pack from Hurricane Surf. I will have another comp for Jbay.

Hot Girls & Killer Surfing at Day 5 of the Mr Price Pro

The beach at Ballito has been coming alive towards the end of the week. Droves of young, buxom girls in bikinis frolic and tan while the surfers in the Mr Price Pro put on a show worthy of kings. The surfing steps up every day with Filipe Toledo leading the charge, once again posting a massive air for a perfect 10 score and backing that up with a 9. Matt Wilko has put his hand up and was absolutely destroying the fun beachy peaks. No Surfing today, which means Sunday is going to be a huge day of surfing with the Quarters starting and running all the way to crowning the 2014 Mr Price Pro Champion!

Surfers blow up at the Mr Price Pro 2014 Day 2

Insane action! That is what we got today at Ballito! The surfers and waves stepped up and once the offshore vanished the boys took to the skies. The most talked about moment (Where were you?) was Filipe Toledo pulling a monster Air reverse that had collective gasps roaring the length of the Ballito promenade all the way to Bogs Bay! The young Brazilian was on fire. Just as gasped at, was Jordy Smith getting a third in one of the toughest heats of the day with a 9.2 Air reverse of his own. Young Hawaiian, Torrey Meister went through on the back of an electric performance.

Bad news, the South Africans are out! Sad days for Team Saffa. Reckon I am backing Torrey now…

Check out all the mad action and remember to chack back again tomorrow for more action from the Mr Price Pro 2014…

Mr Price Pro Preview & Trials 2014 – #ActionUpdate

The bank at Ballito is great and we have seen some good waves leading into the Mr Price Pro. Check out the trials with Shane Sykes getting 2nd and Brandon Jackson winning, both getting wild cards into the main event. I chat to Beyrick de Vries and Nic von Rupp. Check back every day for a short highlights video and all the latest news and action from the event.
