el Jimador Agave Surf Classic 2014 – Surf organic boards made from the same plant as Tequila!

You all know how much I like alternate surf competitions and festivals. Thats why I started the Rolling Retro and finally I have another great surf project for you guys to come and enjoy, the Agave Surf Classic. el Jimador Tequila and Mahala first made a board from the Agave Plant, also used to make Tequila, with shaper, Ian Armstrong and carpenter, Jason Hayes. Once the board was made and everyone realised how well it surfed, the next logical step was to create an event where all surfers could come and experience these incredible natural surfboards.

el Jimador Tequila, in partnership with Zigzag and Mahala, will be hosting the very first Agave Surf Classic at Big Bay, Blouberg, Cape Town. The premium 100% agave tequila has teamed up with local artists Ian Armstrong, Jason Hayes and Stuart Moerdyk to produce five unique agave surfboards, which contestants will have the opportunity to ride and stand a chance to win. The event promises to be an action-packed day ending off with the after party at the local beach bar, Boardhouse. Red Bull Phenom – Get yourself to Xgames!

We all constantly ask, why are there no South Africans competing at XGames? Well best answer is budget, sponsors and of course the skills to compete against the world’s best. In my opinion we definitely have the talent, the riders just need the assistance to ride international comps and parks. So here is an opportunity for all our top skaters and Bmx guys to get to XGames and perform on the biggest stage in action sports.

Red Bull Phenom is a competition to find the next skate, BMX and mountain bike legends. To enter, all you have to do is submit a 60 second video of yourself showing us your talent. Six finalists per discipline will receive a once-in-a-lifetime all-expenses paid trip where they will compete at an amateur contest at X Games. For mountain bike slopestyle athletes, this will be a trip to X Games Munich in June while BMX street and skate street competitors will go to X Games Los Angeles, Calif. USA in August. MTB slopestyle entries are open from April 8th to May 27th. Skate street and BMX street entries are open from April 8th to July 5th.

Red Bull Kart Fight – Everyone can be a racer!

To say I am excited about this would be a gross understatement! I can see much training, driving Karts and lessons from my racing pals!
Red Bull Kart Fight is coming to South Africa. This year you’ll be able to experience the feeling of being a real race car driver, the adrenaline you feel in the minutes before departure, the smell of burning rubber, the sound of the engine and the bustle of mechanics.
Anyone from 13 years can participate and has the opportunity to be the best kart fighter in South Africa. And could go on to defend their national colors in the World Final.
To enter purchase a Red Bull and get down to your nearest participating track to set your fastest lap. The top racers from each track will advance to the Regional Finals. Remember to bring your till slip with you as proof of purchase and a track fee of R50 applies.
