Big call you may say, but if you have watched top Bmx competition for the last few years, you will agree with me. Known as much for his huge, tweaked out tricks, as for that infectious smile always plastered on his dial. For the podcast we took a look at why he has such a happy outlook on life and why Bmx makes him so happy. A big reason he is on the Monster Energy, Mongoose and Vans A teams.
Lockdown Mind Games
Going from riding Bmx every day, which he still does, albeit in the parking garage, whether park or street – the lockdown has seriously impacted on Kevin‘s life. While surfers can still go ride the waves in California, all skate and bmx parks are closed. Good time to be Pat Casey with the most epic backyard setup, but KP in lockdown at his apartment.
Kevin Peraza loves South Africa
Well he does, he was about to board a plane to SA for Ultimate X, then the lockdown was initiated and he still has the tickets. His first few trips were to Cape Town and the last 2 have been to Sun City. (KP makes a very good Game Drive guide btw) Check out the seal diving trip we chat about below. He reckons as soon as travel allowed, he is coming back to SA!
One of the most oft spoken about topics for many years in surfing has been, where are we going? What is the next big thing in surfing? How will our sport progress?
Below are three short videos that will go some way to answering that question. Kelly Slater and his team of surf nerds have possibly designed the most incredible wave machine on earth. While you have all seen him riding it, below is what happens when others get to surf the “Perfect Wave”.
Skim boarding has been around for years, but it is the casual ease with which this guy at the Wedge rides his like a surfboard that may give some indication of where board design wants to go…
Catch Surf also have been around for a while, but it takes a guy like Ricky Basnett, surfing a finless version at Supertubes to show you the real possibilities. Soft like a booger, no fins and simply flying down the line.
Every year footage comes out of this insane Mountain Bike event, as nutters on 2 wheels throw themselves down the narrow city streets of this 3rd World enclave. Each year I think, well I have seen it before, how nuts can it be? Well the answer is, it still blows my mind each year. How these guys don’t write themselves off is anyone’s guess. Enjoy the madness once again as the Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo gives us another year and another incredible MTB POV…
Once again, the hills of Valparaiso tested the gnarliest urban DH mountain bikers with an insanely technical DH course through Chilean streets. Take a point-of-view look at what it’s like to charge through one of the sketchiest urban MTB courses in the world.
Welcome to what is known as the World’s toughest Enduro Race, the Hare Scramble. This year saw pelting rain and snow added to the already insane mix of toughness for the planet’s top Enduro and Mx Riders.
The relief on Graham Jarvis’ face as he crossed the finish line of the 2013 Red Bull Hare Scramble was clear to see. Hard Enduro’s ‘Silent Assassin’ survived starting the flooded course from the second row of the grid to secure his first win at the notorious event.
First up, check out the amazing Phantom camera Slow Motion footage:
