Every year in mid summer a plethora of Bmx stars from around the World head for Cape Town due to the many big riding events happening close to each other. This year our local hero, Greg Illingworth, brought his fellow Mongoose team mates along for a trip and they quite literally slayed the local Cape Spots. I got to take them down to the secret bowl and watch Greg slay that which was pretty incredible live. So sit back, relax and watch some Bmx carnage as riders Kevin Peraza, Paul Ryan, Greg Illingworth and Stu Loundon slay the Cape…
RISE – Caleb Tennant back in the hunt for MX glory
The kid has always been good, but he has been plagued by injuries. So it is appropriate that his new video edit is called, Rise. Caleb will be back at Zone 7 tomorrow to compete in the Mx1 class and judging by the riding in the video, he could just be on top of the podium.
Caleb Tennant hasn’t been seen on the race scene since he finished 3rd in the the MX2 class in 2013. In 2014 Caleb was forced to turn in the towel due to financial setbacks and went to go work full time for his father while saving up to get back on a bike. He missed riding so must that he started making calls to Laren van der Westhuizen, current trainer John Wakefield, Shaun Pautz and Cecil Penny Racing with the help of TLB Monster Energy Yamaha they organised him a ride.
In January 2015 while preparing for the season ahead riding at his home track Zone 7 Caleb suffered a bad crash, with his front wheel collapsing on a table top, cracking ribs and breaking his collar bone putting him out of action for over 2 months. Mid way through March Caleb got back on his bike and started preparing for the 2nd round of the South African Motocross Nationals which is being held in Cape Town. “Id like to thank all my sponsors, mechanic Shaun Pautz, trainer John Wakefield but a special has to go out to Laren van der Westhuizen who pushed me to get back on my bike again. I look forward to racing against the countries best again on Saturday.”

First ever Bike Flip in Competition – Red Bull XFighters Madrid
After a slow start to the season, defending Red Bull X-Fighters Champion Thomas Pagès of France came back at Las Ventas in Madrid tonight – with fury. To defeat the most spectacular display of tricks ever seen in the World Tour, the Frenchman had to make history, and he did, pulling off the first Bike Flip in competition.
MADRID (Spain) – Tom Pagès is a hot and cold kind of rider, and tonight he had to be downright “caliente” to claim first place at Red Bull X-Fighters’ 13th consecutive tour stop in Madrid. In what was definitely the most progressive battle in the history of the world’s most prestigious freestyle motocross event series, Pagès was the best of the best, locking the top of the podium with the Bike Flip everyone’s been waiting for.
Second- and third-place finishers Josh Sheehan of Australia and Levi Sherwood of New Zealand were spectacular as well, delivering performances that would have won just about any other competition. Sheehan soared with rarely seen double-backflips three times that evening, and Sherwood introduced his new Rowedova Flip with his usual perfection. And all three of the riders had to carry off the risky tricks in heat after heat to make it to the finals.
The atmosphere was electric in the sold-out Las Ventas bullring, with 23,000 fans a screaming sea of white and red in attire that marked the beginning of the famed San Fermín festival, known for the running of the bulls. Pagès tossed his gear into the audience, and Sheehan even threw himself into the crowd before a fireworks display ended the evening. As the riders clutched their trophies, Pagès said, “I’m so happy. The runs here were loaded with special moves that made it like a best trick competition where every trick could have been the best.”
With Sherwood, the 2012 overall champion, having won the first two events of the 2014 season, a comeback by 2013 world tour champ Pagès makes it anyone’s title to claim. And it’s far too soon to count out Sheehan, who has two second-place finishes under his belt. The fireworks will continue in Munich, Germany on 19 July – where for the first time in FMX history – the full track will be floating on a lake.
Final Results Madrid: 1. Thomas Pagès (FRA), 2. Josh Sheehan (AUS), 3. Levi Sherwood (NZL), 4. Dany Torres (ESP), 5. Taka Higashino (JPN), 6. Maikel Melero (ESP), 7. Clinton Moore (AUS), 8. Mat Rebeaud (SUI), 9. Rob Adelberg (AUS), 10. Libor Podmol (CZE), 11. Rémi Bizouard (FRA), 12. David Rinaldo (FRA).
World Tour Standings: 1. Sherwood 200 points, 2. Sheehan 160, 3. Pagès 145, 4. Torres 130, 5. Bizouard 95, 6. Adelberg 90, 7. Higashino 70, 8. Rebeaud 70, 9. Melero 60, 10. Jones (USA) 55

Danny MacAskill’s Epeceun – The master of Trials is back!
I have been hanging for the new video to drop from Danny MacAskill and its finally here. So go make yourself some popcorn, pour a bevvy and sit back and relax for 2 seconds before jumping up in awe at the stunts this guy does. Shot in a town in Argentina of the same name, which flooded in the 80’s and now 20 years later it has risen as a ghost town. Eary, strange and beautiful landscapes are created for the master to ride trial on! So bloody good!
Danny MacAskill’s Epecuén – Trailer
When did you ever see a Danny MacAskill video that did not rock… Exactly, never!
Danny’s back! And this time his new playground is an abandoned village in Argentina. After spending 25 years underwater, it’s now re-emerged for the first time and Epecuén, named after the town itself, will see Danny take his biking back to the roots of trials riding, as he explores the forgotten town and pushes the limits as the world’s #1 freestyle trial rider.
Road Bike Party 2 – Trial riding a very expensive Road Bike
We have all been in awe of the Danny MacAskill and his trial bike videos, which have garnered millions of Youtube hits. His good mate Martyn Ashton made his first version with a road bike and it promptly became a huge hit. So now he decided to make another one, using a R210’000 bike… (Thanks for the link Rawlins.)
Road Bike Party 2 is here! Martyn Ashton, Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg take you on a new journey with a new bike.
Incredible stunts and amazing tricks all completed on a £15,000 Colnago C59 Italia? It can only be a Road Bike Party! Lycra-clad trials legend Martyn Ashton’s first Road Bike Party was a YouTube sensation, so a sequel HAD to be made, bigger and better than before! Martyn was in the middle of filming when his life was transformed by an accident during a trials display which has left him paralysed from the waist down. Courage, determination and great friends have helped Martyn to complete his vision for what a Road Bike Party is.
In the words of Mr Ashton, “Party on”!
No bikes were harmed in the making of this film.
