Brandon Semenuk’s Rad Company – Freeride Trailer with Red Bull

Over the last few years the MTB discipline of Freeride has grown super fast. Incredible events like the Red Bull Rampage have pushed the limits of what terrain can be ridden on a Mountain Bike. There have also been some serious films showing the top guys really going mental. One of the top young riders in the world right now, Brandon Semenuk, has now joined with Red bull Media House to make his own film, Rad Company. I am seriously frothing to watch it.

Brandon Semenuk’s RAD COMPANY pushes the limits of freeride mountain biking and showcases the skills and passion that make him one of the most versatile and explosive riders on the planet. Brandon handpicked the crew of riders for this film who drive and inspire him in each discipline, ultimately creating some of the highest level of riding ever caught on camera. The film features an eclectic soundtrack that flows like your favorite mix tape, while seamlessly meshing all disciplines of mountain biking. NWD Films and Red Bull Media House have teamed up with some of the top cinematographers and digital effects artists to create an innovative style, while keeping true to the “all killer no filler” style of the New World Disorder.

20 Years of Snowboarding with Vans – Movie

Since the day Snowboarding moved away from hard bindings and into soft botts and lumo clothing, Vans have been there. This is a pretty dam cool look back at the last 20 years and the good times, deep powder and anarchy that has been part of the journey.

Vans presents 20 Years: Off the Wall, On the Snow, a definitive retrospective film honoring over two decades of Vans Snow heritage, filmed and directed by respected filmmakers Mike Hatchett and Travis Robb of Standard Films.
20 Years takes a look back at an influential era in snowboarding, paying homage to a pivotal period in defining a new generation of snowboarding culture as told by original Vans riders Shaun Palmer, Circe Wallace and Kurt Wastell. Reminiscing on years of style, innovation and true originality, Hatchett’s passionate narrative tells the history of Vans on the mountain, encapsulating the humble beginnings of the snowboarding industry along with the people who continued to progress the sport into the culture it is today.
20 Years features the unique perspectives of the Vans global snowboarding team such as Pat Moore, Jamie Lynn, Darrell Mathes and more, as well as iconic Vans athletes including legendary skater John Cardiel and big wave surfer Nathan Fletcher.

Missing – A film by Taylor Steele with World Champ, Mick Fanning

Mick Fanning is busy looking for his 3rd World Title at Pipeline. If he gets it, Kelly Slater needs to win Pipe to deny him, and Mick will join an elite club of surfers , with more than 2 World Titles. Good timing then for a movie by the modern day surf film guru, Taylor Steele to come out. I am frothing to watch it! (Keep an eye out for mental SA footage!)

Taylor Steele’s brand new film – “MISSING” – puts ASP World Champion, Mick Fanning, in some of the most radical places on the planet alongside his good friends John John Florence, Jordy Smith, Matt Wilkinson and Tom Curren.

Under the direction of the world renowned film-maker, the project takes Mick Fanning out of the competition world of the ASP, gives him a boarding pass with a blank destination and for 21 days he is relocated all over the world with only a passport, suitcase and surfboard at his disposal. As a result, the surfing is special, raw and some of the best that you’ll see on screen this year. From Africa and Ireland to Central America and Spain, the experience literally is life changing for Mick Fanning.

“I was going on a trip to somewhere but I didn’t know where, kind of like being kidnapped,” said Mick Fanning.

“There was no schedule or timeline, only life. I felt like I was in the real world for the very first time and it made me so happy to see the world that clearly.”

The Crash Reel – The fall & rise of Pro Snowboarder, Kevin Pearce

Today I felt like I needed some inspiration and then this trailer literally jumped out of my recommended watch list on Youtube. I cannot wait to watch the full movie.

The epic rivalry between half-pipe legends Kevin Pearce and Shaun White is documented in this exhilarating ride into the world of extreme snowboarding. With both practicing more and more breathtaking and dangerous tricks leading up to the Vancouver Winter Olympics, everything suddenly changes for Kevin when a horrific crash leaves him fighting for his life. When he recovers, all he wants to do is get on his snowboard again, even though medics and family fear it could kill him.

CHAMåLEON – A Snowboard Film by Red Bull

As Cape Town finally heats up the Northern hemisphere heads for winter and 6 months of snow! What better way to amp up for some Pow time on the slopes than with a brand spanking new snowboard film by the good folk at Red Bull…

The long wait is over. Markus Keller’s new movie is dropping very soon and here is the first taste. He has won International events and been crowned World Champion. He has appeared on the cover of every major snowboarding publication and he may have had more covers than any other rider.

He has had film parts in some of the most respected films in the last decade. His feeling for transitions is legendary as is the style he brings into his riding. He is Markus ‘Mä’ Keller and he is snowboarding!

Too much? We don’t think so. In fact, we went as far as teaming up with Nitro and Volcom to make a movie of the Swiss master himself. This fall, Markus stars in the much-anticipated CHAMäLEON where is joined by the likes of Arthur Longo, Eero Ettala and Bryan Iguchi, to name but a few.

Burton presents Backcountry – Free Snowboard Film

On Friday I brought you the trailer for the first of a series of short films by Burton, Backcountry. Here is the film for your enjoyment. I loved it. Great cast, epic backcountry Pow and a good soundtrack.

This episode takes you deep into the mountains of British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest, Switzerland, and beyond. Featuring the riding of Jussi Oksanen, Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, Nicolas Müller, Mikey Rencz, and Mark Sollors, BACKCOUNTRY highlights heavy riding on massive cheesewedges, natural big mountain lines, hairy cliff drops, and soft landings. Lastly take a trip into the heaving waters at Mavericks with South African big wave surfer, Grant Twig Baker showing why he is one of the best in the business! The guy takes such different lines to the other surfers and really shows what the paddle potential is at one of the world’s gnarliest waves…

Jordy Smith’s latest film “NOW NOW” is unadulterated surf porn. It’s less about the editors artistic impression, and all about what one of the most relevant surfers in the world is doing between dawn and dusk.
Jordy Smith stormed onto the World Tour in 2008 with no apologies and no prisoners. Since first pulling on a ‘Smith’ jersey, he’s brought home victories (J-Bay), accomplished personal goals (winning outside South Africa, in Rio), clocked 10s (everywhere) and shown us all how endearing the transition from cocky benchwarmer to graceful batsman can really be.
Watching all 6’3″ of him hospitalise a beachbreak end section or man-handle a Cloudbreak freight train with equal panache will steal your breath. But Jordy doesn’t just dance for the judges – 2013’s been a year in which he has shocked with freesurf clips, it was only a matter of time ’til we would be gifted a digital extended play.
Welcome to NOW NOW, a collage of moments tagged and bagged during the first six months of this year. Filmed in Mozambique, South Africa, Australia and Indonesia, one simple mantra has kept Jordy’s batteries charged and allowed us the pleasure of NOW NOW: “I just want to go surf. That’s what I want to do.”
Jordy commented, “This movie kinda just happened, I wasn’t really expecting to drop another movie so soon after Bending Colours, then I did a few trips down to Mozambique to test boards and get dialed for Snapper and scored some epic waves.”
“I love Durban, its probably the best place in the world to get clips. The waves are so consistent and super hollow and rampy. I’d seen a few of the young Brazilian kids sticking backflips which got me amped. I ended up sticking two big ones in Ballito, that’s when I realised that we were sitting on some sick footage & had to make this movie”
